Arbitration

When there is a dispute between maintainers on how things should be done any one of them can call the board for arbitration. The goal of the arbitration process is to force the participants to write down their view of the topic together with technical facts to aid their view. The maximum time for response is two month from the date the mail from the board is sent. When one of the participants is a member of the board he can not participate as arbitrator. The participants have to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the gain of your solution in terms of user and maintainer experience?
  2. What is the estimated cost in terms of potential troubles for users and other maintainers when your solution is implemented?
  3. What is the gain of the other (not yours) solution in terms of user and maintainer experience?
  4. What is the estimated cost of the other (not yours) solution in terms of potential troubles for users and other maintainers when the other solution is implemented?
